Passionate writing by Pierre Bastien (1912-2010), a French surgeon who practiced as a doctor until 1977. Since 1955 he dedicated himself to the study of Roman imperial numismatics, publishing numerous articles on the subject. From 1965 to 1967 he was President of the Société Française de Numismatique.
