    Ex libris by Théodore Edme Mionnet, Paris, late 18th century, 40x70 mm.

    Théodore Edme Mionnet (1770-1842), a famous numismatist, studied in Paris at the Collège du Cardinal le Moine and later at the École de droit. After four years of legal practice and a short period in the army, in 1800 he became assistant to the Cabinet des médailles of the Bibliothèque Nationale and in this capacity he began to catalog the collections. He often traveled to Italy, made several interesting numismatic finds and in 1830 he became a member of the Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres. Mionnet was responsible for the creation of a scale, which takes its name from him, to measure the diameter of coins, used by various authors in the nineteenth century. He gave several publications to the press.

    Jaroslav Lukavsky (1924-1984), artist, mainly made woodcuts, becoming one of the best known artists in the world in this field. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and from 1942 at the National School of Graphic Arts in Prague. The inspiration for his works comes first of all from his relationship with nature. He has participated in numerous international exhibitions, including: Amsterdam, London, Barcelona, Helsinki, Berlin, Moscow. From 1966 to 1973 he won several awards for the graphic design of banknotes and stamps.
