A work of considerable documentary interest, in which Mario Rolla lists and classifies, in rigorous alphabetical order and by location, the private collectors and public institutions holding numismatic collections at the time of publication. The index spans a broad European context—Italy, Germany, France, England, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia—and for each entry, the nature and composition of the collection is indicated. A specific section is also dedicated to coin and medal dealers. Due to the breadth of the survey and the wealth of information, it constitutes a primary source for reconstructing the geography of European numismatic collecting in the period between the two world wars.
