Francesco Gnecchi (1847-1919). With his brother Ercole he published the Coins of Milan (1884), those of the Trivulzio family (1886) and an essay on the Italian numismatic bibliography (1889). His most notable work is dedicated to the Roman Medallions (1912). He contributed widely to the diffusion of numismatic studies both with the creation of excellent manuals, and with the foundation of the Italian Numismatic Review (1888) and then of the Italian Numismatic Society (1892). His very rich collection of Roman coins is now in the National Museum of Rome.
